Kevin G. Lynch, Chief Executive Officer of Mechanical Technology, Incorporated (MTI), its wholly-owned subsidiary MTI Instruments, Inc. and its variable interest entity MTI MicroFuel Cells, Inc. joined the organization in April 2012. Prior to MTI, Mr. Lynch served as the Chief Executive Officer of AAF International (American Air Filter Company Inc. AAFCI), a commercial and industrial air filters and Equipment Company and a subsidiary of Daikin Industries Ltd. in Japan from December 2011 until April 2012, and as the Global Chief Operating Officer from June 2008 to December 2011.
Mr. Lynch served as the President of Filtration Group Inc., a privately held air filter manufacturer in Illinois, from March 2006 to March 2008. Mr. Lynch also worked with Lydall Inc., a specialty materials manufacturer, for over 12 years where he progressed to the Group President of the company. Mr. Lynch served as the President of the Glendale Protective Technologies subsidiary immediately prior to joining Lydall. Mr. Lynch started his career in the chemical industry with American Cyanamid Inc. (now Cytec, Inc. - NYSE:CYT) developing his abilities over 16 years though many of their businesses in various roles and locations. Mr. Lynch holds a M.B.A. in management from Farleigh Dickinson University, and both a B.S. and M.S. in Biology from the Pennsylvania State University.
Rick Jones, MTI Instruments’ Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, joined MTI in 1993 and held several positions throughout the organization; including Corporate Staff Accountant, Controller, Director of Finance and Administration, Senior Director of Finance & Operations and Vice-President of Finance & Operations. In his current position, Rick oversees the financial reporting, internal control compliance and administrative support functions, as well as the treasury, human resources and risk management for the corporation and the production, quality and shipping departments of MTI Instruments.
Prior to his employment with MTI, Rick served as Controller for both Hobbs Management Corporation and Galesi Management Corporation.
Rick received a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Siena College.
Dave Hicks, MTI Instruments’ Director of Sales - Aviation, has been with the company for more than 35 years. During his time at MTI, Dave has assumed a wide variety of senior technical and management positions, encompassing many aspects of machinery monitoring and diagnostics systems.
Presently, Dave heads the MTI Instruments product group that designs and supplies vibration analysis and balancing instrumentation for the aviation and industrial market. In this position, Dave has overall responsibility for all aspects of this business, including product concept and development, sales and marketing, production and customer support. With systems supplied to customers in over 55 countries, Dave travels extensively, assisting customers and providing sales, support and training throughout the world.
Dave has also worked for The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences, and for Plug Power. Dave holds a BSEE from Northeastern University and an M.B.A. from Russell Sage College.
Peter Opela, MTI Instruments’ Director of Engineering, joined MTI in 2006 and leads the company’s engineering effort through new technological development and advancing the technology and functionality encapsulated within our existing products. Previously, Peter worked for Motorola in their CDMA and GSM cellular handset divisions and for Freescale Semiconductor in their advanced 3G chipset division.
Don Welch, MTI Instruments' Director of New Business Development, joined MTI in 1985 as an R&D project development engineer. Don is responsible for new product development as well as mergers and acquisitions. Previously he was the engineering manager for Tele/ Resources a private business telecommunications firm where he directed PBX product development. Since joining MTI he has held a number of positions in both corporate R&D and within the MTI Instruments division, most recently Director of Engineering. He holds a BSEE from Union College.
