MTI-2100 Features Angstrom Resolution

MTI 2100 Fotonic Sensor
Faced with a tough measurement application? Looking for a durable precision instrument for all your non-contact measurement requirements? Doesn't your testing team deserve a product, a system backed by over 30 years of precision measurement leadership?

The MTI-2100 features advanced fiber-optic and electronic technologies for precise measurements of displacement, position and vibration and sets new performance standards with resolution up to 0.01 µin (2.5 Angstroms) and frequency response from direct-coupled (dc) to 500 kHz. The MTI-2100’s modular design has the flexibility to be tailored to specific requirements through the use of a wide range of interchangeable and custom fiber-optic probes that are immune to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and operate on almost any type of surface: metallic, composite, plastic, glass, ceramic or liquid. This flexibility makes it an ideal tool for measuring ultrasonic horns, piezo-electric actuators, computer disk drives, fuel injectors, bearings, etc.

Automotive Tier 1 Supplier uses MTI’s Laser System to Improve Torque Converter Design

Torque Converter
An automotive torque converter is used in automatic transmissions to take the place of the clutch used in manual transmissions. Improper operation of the torque converter can lead to poor performance, premature system failure or worse, compromise the operation of the entire vehicle drive line.

To learn how a major automotive integrator solved the challenge of accurately measuring the axial displacement and dynamic expansion of production torque converters.

Security of Flight Doors Improved Through Use of MTI-2100 Fotonic Sensor

Cockpit Door Strike
It is 6:15 AM on Monday morning and the aircraft smoothly glides down Runway 22. As the aircraft quickly climbs into the clouds, we never give much thought to a key safety device on the aircraft which has been vastly improved since 9/11…………… the cockpit door locking mechanism.

Click below to learn how MTI helped a major aircraft parts supplier design a reliable cockpit door locking system and bring peace of mind to the traveling public.

Application Tip

To achieve the highest performance always select a probe that has a measurement range only slightly larger than the application demands. For example, if the required measurement range is 3-mm, then a laser sensor with a 4-mm range would be a good choice. Selecting a system with a larger measurement range will decrease the sensitivity and resolution.
