Application Tip: Sensor Probe Mounting
When trying to measure down to sub-micron resolution, ensure that the Fotonic or Accumeasure probe mounting or clamping is done as close to the probe tip as possible to minimize any effects of thermal expansion of the probe material. Mounting the sensor and part being measured on a granite table and the use of vibration isolators also help to reduce any exterior vibrational pick-up. Finally selecting the lowest possible bandwidth within the instrument will also further eliminate any noise and improve the resolution.
