Guess What Technology is Ideal for Measuring Position, Vibration and Displacement of Small Targets?
Capacitance sensors are widely used throughout a variety of industries to provide highly stable, accurate measurements of displacement, vibration, position and runout. Most capacitance probes are passive by design, allowing them to be operated in high shock and vibration environments at temperatures from -270°C to over 500°C. Unfortunately, the measurement range of a capacitive probe is relatively small in proportion to the probe size so measuring tiny targets can be difficult, if not impossible. That is, until MTII introduced the breakthrough Accumeasure 9000 capacitance sensing system.

Cost Effective, High Speed Vibration Measurements
What costs less than 1/3 the price of an interferometer, has equal resolution and doesn’t mode hop??????? The MTI-2100 Fotonic sensor, of course! It features advanced fiber-optic and electronic technologies for precise measurements of displacement, position and vibration and sets new performance standards with resolution to 0.01 µin (2.5 Angstroms) and frequency response from direct-coupled (dc) to 500 kHz.
The MTI-2100’s modular design has the flexibility to be tailored to specific requirements through the use of a wide range of interchangeable and custom fiber-optic probes. They are immune to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and operate on almost any type of surface: metallic, composite, plastic, glass, ceramic or liquid. Bent tip probes are available to fit into hard to reach locations within your application. Bulkhead feed-throughs can also be provided to allow MTII's Fotonic sensors to be operated inside vacuum or pressure chambers.
Application Tip
Did you know you can use MTII’s Fotonic sensors to measure changes in reflectivity or to detect flaws and cracks? Simply traverse your specimen beneath the probe while maintaining a constant gap. The variation in voltage output can be related to a reflectivity change or defect, providing an easy way to detect flaws or cracks.
